What a fantastic year its been, let’s take a look at our year in numbers!
With over 60,000 logged outbound phone calls and a total of over 1000 appointments made within 2022, the GVC team have successfully seen an increase across the board since last year, in every measurable metric.
Over the past 12 months, the team dedicated themselves to creating new and maintaining previous relationships with both applicants and potential employers within the veterinary profession.
By remaining consistent in our efforts and incredibly disciplined in our work ethic, especially the areas that we are in control of which is our outbound activity, it’s evident that our internal processes are working well, not just for us but also our loyal global network of clients.

Since 2021, we have seen growth in the following areas:
Outbound Calls: 60,749 ⬆️ 34%
Applications Submitted: 2521 ⬆️ 26.8%
Successful Permanent Appointments: 189 ⬆️ 42%
Locum Bookings Arranged: 872 ⬆️ 34%
Total Appointments Made: 1061 ⬆️ 36%
Interviews Arranged for Permanent Positions: 952 ⬆️ 66%
Countries Placed In: 14 ⬆️ 7%
Although we’re thrilled with this year’s figures, we live by the rule that there is always room for improvement to ensure that we’re doing the most to better match applicants accordingly with the correct employers and opportunities available.
According to our statistics, in 2022, our team placed 189 permanent roles and of that number, we saw a success rate of 93.6% of candidates placed remaining in their roles past their probationary period.
Throughout 2023, one of our main goals is to continue to work alongside our clients to identify where improvement is necessary and how we can work together to improve the levels of retention in the veterinary industry.
The onboarding process is a crucial defining moment for any new starter, and so it’s imperative to recognise what is and is not working to ensure a greater retention level. This includes reconnecting with, understanding and encouraging the desires of veterinary professionals within the workplace, so they feel a true sense of fulfilment within their work.

In accordance with the RCVS Workforce Summit (2021), one of the top reasons people decided to leave the veterinary profession, hitting 55%, was due to feeling unrewarded and undervalued.
Contrary to popular belief, the recruitment crisis is not necessarily due to a lack of veterinary professionals looking for work, but rather the retention efforts of them. GVC are committed to helping build talented and engaged veterinary teams, which translates into a higher level of pet care being provided.
We are all set to enter 2023 on a very positive note and are as enthusiastic as ever to continue assisting both applicants and prospective employers in discovering the right partners across the full spectrum of veterinary professions.
Our extensive experience working within the industry makes us the best fit to help partner the finest talent with great employers globally.
So, whether it’s locum or permanent work you’re seeking, let us assist you in landing your next dream role in 2023.
