ER Veterinarian – Departmental Head

Lead a high performing ER team in the heart of New York City, with advanced technology at your fingertips, a deep bench of specialists for collaboration, and the scope to shape protocols, mentor clinicians, and elevate patient outcomes.
The Opportunity
- Clinically practicing ER leader, overseeing ER clinicians, scheduling, hiring, training, mentorship, regular ER meetings, and representing ER within hospital leadership. Collaboration with the Medical Director to drive best in class patient care.
- Serves greater Manhattan including Hell’s Kitchen, Upper West Side and the Central Park corridor.
Hospital Snapshot
- ER plus multi specialty referral center, services include Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, Dermatology, Anesthesia and Pain Management, plus an in house blood bank.
Equipment and Technology
- Linear accelerator for radiation therapy, in house blood bank, advanced imaging suite including diagnostic imaging and ultrasound, full critical care monitoring.
Caseload
- High acuity small animal emergency, strong in house referral stream from multiple specialty services, occasional exotic or zoological consults.
Leadership Scope
- Lead by example on the floor, support clinicians across a variety of shifts, set standards, coach on triage and stabilization, quality, safety, and client communication.
Requirements
- DVM or VMD from an AVMA accredited program
- NAVLE passed
- If international graduate, ECFVG or PAVE
- Active or eligible New York license, DEA and USDA accreditation, can be obtained upon hire
- Completion of a rotating internship or equivalent ER training pathway, prior shift lead experience preferred, minimum 2 years clinical experience, demonstrated ability to mentor clinicians and interns, strong communication and organizational skills.
Compensation
- $180,000 to 240,000 base + production 20-23%, leadership stipend or bonus 10,000 to 25,000, sign on and relocation available, OTE 220,000 to 320,000 plus.
