We’re representing a well-established mixed practice in Charters Towers, offering an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced veterinarian to guide a team while working across small animals, equine, and beef cattle. Just over an hour from Townsville, this role is ideal for a vet seeking career progression, autonomy, and a true rural mixed practice lifestyle.
About the Role – Lead Mixed Practice Veterinarian
This full-time leadership position offers a hands-on, highly varied caseload, including:
Small Animals – consults, routine and advanced surgeries, dentistry, and emergency cases including tick paralysis and snake envenomation
Equine – ambulatory work, colic management, dentistry, vaccinations, lameness assessment, and minor surgeries
Beef Cattle – pregnancy testing, bull fertility testing, obstetrics, herd health programs, and on-farm ambulatory services
In addition to clinical duties, you will:

Provide leadership within the clinic and support a positive team culture

Mentor and develop recent graduates and junior vets

Contribute to clinical standards, workflow decisions, and practice direction

Collaborate with senior vets across a larger regional network

Wireless DR X-ray and small/large animal ultrasound

About You – What We’re Looking For
You're a confident mixed practitioner who enjoys rural medicine and leading from the front. You will thrive if you are:

Experienced in mixed practice (or strong small + large combo)

Comfortable with surgery, consults, and ambulatory work

Skilled in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving

Passionate about mentoring and developing others
-
Able to register with the QLD Veterinary Surgeons Board
