Specialist Orthopaedic Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal Referrals
We are seeking a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon to join a busy, dedicated small animal orthopaedic referral practice in a beautiful rural setting. This is an excellent opportunity for vets who are highly experienced in orthopaedic surgery and are looking to work in a supportive, specialist-led environment.
About the Practice

Modern, purpose-built referral facility with 3 operating theatres and on-site CT.

Fully equipped to perform a wide range of orthopaedic procedures, including THR, TPLO, CUE, arthroscopy, and complex fracture management.

Supportive team includes an RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Surgery, a residency-trained surgeon, an RCVS Advanced Practitioner, and an Orthopaedic Intern.
The Role

Full-time or part-time (especially interested in 2–3 day per week candidates)

Competitive salary (dependent on experience)

Contribute to an equal share of the out-of-hours rota (minimal and non-overnight)

Candidate Requirements
Applicants must hold:
-
A veterinary qualification recognised by the RCVS that allows practice in the UK
-
RCVS Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics) or have passed the RCVS/ECVS/ACVS diploma examinations
-
Proven experience performing complex orthopaedic procedures in dogs and cats
-
Strong understanding of pre- and post-operative patient management
-
Excellent communication skills for liaising with referring veterinarians, clients, and multidisciplinary teams

Commitment to high standards of clinical care, teaching, and professional development
Desirable Attributes
-
Experience mentoring junior surgeons or residents
-
Involvement in research or publications in small animal orthopaedics
-
Interest in contributing to training and clinical discussions within the practice

Rural setting with excellent local amenities, including restaurants and cafes

Approximately 30Â miles from London with frequent rail services under an hour
