Position Overview:
As an experienced Veterinary Nurse with over 3 years in the field, you will be an integral part of our clinical team, providing high-quality nursing care and support to both our patients and clients. You will assist our veterinarians in delivering exceptional service and work to ensure the clinic operates smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:Â Provide hands-on nursing care to animals during surgeries, medical treatments, and routine check-ups, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Assisting Veterinarians:Â Work closely with veterinarians in clinical procedures, including anaesthesia, surgeries, diagnostics, and client consultations.
- Client Communication:Â Provide expert advice to pet owners on general care, treatments, medication administration, and post-operative care.
- Laboratory Work:Â Perform routine laboratory tests, including bloodwork, urinalysis, and cytology, and assist in the preparation of samples for external testing.
- Surgical Assistance:Â Prepare animals for surgery, monitor anaesthesia, and provide post-operative care.
- Medication Management:Â Administer medications, monitor patient responses, and manage inventories of medications and supplies.
- Records Management:Â Ensure accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients, including detailed notes on treatments and procedures.
- Sterilization and Equipment Maintenance:Â Ensure that all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained, adhering to clinic protocols and hygiene standards.
- Team Collaboration:Â Collaborate with a team of skilled veterinarians and support staff to create a positive work environment and provide exceptional patient care.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Veterinary Nurse in a clinical setting.
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of animal anatomy, medical conditions, and treatment options.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical procedures and care plans to pet owners in a clear and compassionate manner.
- Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient record management.
- Ability to work well under pressure, managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- A caring, empathetic attitude towards animals and their owners.
- A strong work ethic and a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Experience with anaesthesia, surgical assistance, and emergency care is highly desirable.
