Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – Dorset, South Coast England

GVC is assisting a thriving, multi-site small animal practice in Dorset to recruit an experienced Veterinary Surgeon. This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly, supportive team with a strong focus on work-life balance and professional development.

About the Role

The practice is looking for a confident veterinary surgeon with experience in small animal practice, comfortable with routine veterinary work.

  • Full-time (average 40 hours/week)

  • Four weekdays per week (one day finishes at 16:00)

  • 1 in 4 Saturdays

  • No out-of-hours work, no Sundays, no bank holidays, no sole charge

  • Part-time applications considered

The role provides an opportunity to work alongside a team of nine vets, ranging from recent graduates to highly experienced colleagues, as well as skilled nurses, ANAs, and receptionists. The practice encourages clinical development and will support certificate study and other specialised training.

About the Practice

The practice operates across two sister sites and offers a varied caseload, including small animal, orthopaedics, exotics, diagnostic imaging, and rehabilitation. Facilities include a CT scanning suite and modern treatment areas, and the team is committed to investing in the development of both people and services.

The practice has recently achieved 3-star World Class Accreditation from Best Companies, recognising its excellent workplace engagement.

The Area

Situated in the heart of Dorset, the Bournemouth & Poole area offers miles of coastline, countryside walks, water sports, shopping, nightlife, and diverse dining options. Excellent transport links include motorway access, direct train lines to London, a local airport in Bournemouth, and ferry services from Poole.

  • Salary: £40,000 – £68,000 per annum, dependent on experience
