Veterinary Surgeon – North East London Area

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Practice Veterinary Surgeon to join a leading 24-hour small animal hospital in the North East London area. This position is perfect for a confident vet who enjoys a varied hospital caseload, from routine surgery to emergency and critical care cases, within one of London’s busiest and most respected ECC hubs.

The Role

  • Hours: Full-time, average of 40 hours per week

  • Rota: 6-week rolling rota, incorporating consulting, surgery, wards, and ECC

  • Weekends: 1:3 Saturdays and 1:6 Sundays

  • Salary: £45,000–£60,000 (DOE)

This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple hospital departments, ensuring great clinical variety and exposure to advanced cases. You’ll perform routine surgeries such as spays, castrates, and dentals, while also managing emergency presentations and inpatient care alongside a dedicated ECC team.

The hospital provides comprehensive first opinion, referral, and emergency services, supported by cutting-edge facilities including a CT scanner, in-house laboratory, and advanced surgical suites. The team regularly performs complex orthopaedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive procedures.

You’ll be supported by a collaborative team of experienced hospital vets, RVNs, SVNs, and clinical support staff, all led by a knowledgeable management team who actively encourage development and progression.

About You

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with solid GP experience

  • Confident performing routine surgeries and managing emergency cases

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital setting

  • Positive, team-focused attitude with excellent communication skills
