If you’re looking to work within a collaborative, well-equipped hospital environment where you can focus on clinical excellence, case development, and long-term patient outcomes this could be the perfect role for you.

The Opportunity

You’ll be joining a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary team delivering 24/7 care to a diverse caseload. With no on-call responsibilities and a dedicated night team in place, you’ll enjoy a healthy work-life balance while still managing complex and rewarding cases in-house.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys diagnosing and managing challenging medical cases, working with advanced imaging tools, and collaborating closely with a supportive team of veterinary professionals.

Key Details

  • Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

  • Hours: 4-day working week (38.1 hours)

  • Rota: 1 in 5 weekends (9-hour shift) + 1 bank holiday per year

  • On-call: None – dedicated night team covers all overnight work

  • Employment Type: Permanent, full-time preferred (part-time considered)

  • Development: Full support for certificate study and CPD

About You

You’ll be a confident Veterinary Surgeon with strong general practice skills and a genuine interest in medicine and diagnostic imaging. Experience in ultrasonography and endoscopy is highly desirable.

Whether you already hold a certificate or are currently working towards one, you’ll be supported by a leadership team that values growth and continuous development.

You should also be:

  • A strong communicator with excellent client care skills

  • Confident managing complex medical cases

  • Collaborative, proactive and keen to share knowledge with the wider team

  • Passionate about maintaining high clinical standards

Hospital Facilities

You’ll be working in a purpose-built hospital equipped with:

  • CT scanner and advanced ultrasound suite

  • In-house lab with TEG and blood gas analysis

  • Dedicated theatres for orthopaedics, soft tissue, and exotics

  • ECC-specific wards

  • Modern dental suite

  • On-site hydrotherapy and physiotherapy

With these facilities and the backing of experienced referral clinicians—you’ll have everything you need to work up cases thoroughly without the need to refer elsewhere.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary (up to £70,000 DOE)

  • 6.6 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays)

  • Enhanced sick pay and family leave

  • £1,750 CPD allowance + 5 days CPD leave

  • RCVS and VDS fees paid

  • Two additional professional memberships funded

  • Private health insurance

  • Pension scheme

  • Life insurance

Why Join This Team?

This is more than just a veterinary role  it’s an opportunity to join a hospital that’s redefining what “supportive” means.
You’ll be part of a large, friendly team where collaboration, wellbeing, and continued learning are at the heart of everything they do.

The practice values personal growth just as much as clinical expertise, so whether you’re developing specialist interests or mentoring others, you’ll be encouraged to thrive.

Location

Situated in beautiful South Wales, this hospital offers the best of both worlds easy access to city amenities, coastal scenery, and stunning countryside walks. Perfect for those who love both clinical challenges and a balanced lifestyle.
