Steph works as a Recruitment Specialist for our Locum team and has taken the plunge to take part in the Great West Run for a second time, this time, raising money to help support the charity Vetlife. The run takes place on Sunday 21st May 2023 and consists of a choice between a 5k, a 10k and a community mile that is designed to encourage first time runners to come together and challenge themselves to take part in a more active lifestyle.
So, why Vetlife?
Providing free and confidential support, whether it be emotional, health or financial problems, Vetlife is an independent charity that caters to the needs of those within the UK veterinary community. Existing for nearly 120 years, Vetlife’s core values remain strong and continue to evolve constantly to ensure they are meeting the needs of those within the profession which is forever changing.
Vetlife is managed by a board of 12 trustees, all of whom are veterinary surgeons who understand better than anyone the demands of the profession and what people in the industry may require. Sadly, the veterinary community continue to experience significantly higher levels of depression and suicide than the general population; the charity aims to make sure that people are aware of the assistance and help that is available should they, or a colleague be in need of support.
How do donations help?
- 24/7/365 Vetlife Helpline
- Funds training for volunteers to provide advice and confidential support
- Vetlife donations help to fund and manage Vetlife Health Support and Vetlife Financial Support
