At Global Veterinary Careers, our dedication lies in ensuring that our team, spanning all three offices, can sustain a healthy work-life balance. In pursuit of this objective, we’ve implemented crucial strategies, including the adoption of a four-day work week, the provision of emergency days, and increased flexibility to accommodate childcare, medical appointments, and other needs. Consequently, a discernible enhancement in office morale has become evident.

After a successful 12-week trial in the latter part of 2022, GVC officially implemented a 4-day work week. This initiative aimed to foster productivity and success while providing our team with an extra day off each week for personal activities. Over time, we observed a significant and sustained increase in productivity, as well as positive developments in staff retention and overall well-being.

Nationwide trials revealed a remarkable 65% decrease in sick days, and at least 71% of employees reported experiencing reduced levels of burnout within their teams. Taking these positive outcomes into consideration, Global Veterinary Careers is pleased to continue offering a 4-day work week to its employees, old and new.

Furthermore, our offices across the UK, Australia and the United States all work on a Monday – Friday basis meaning our employees are guaranteed to have two consecutive days to switch off from work and enjoy their weekends.

Moreover, similar to numerous workplaces, GVC allocates a designated number of emergency days for our employees to use as needed. This proves particularly beneficial for unforeseen circumstances such as unexpected car breakdowns, home emergencies like floods, or receiving distressing news about a sick child. By offering this flexibility, our employees can find reassurance in knowing that they have support when faced with life’s unexpected challenges.

To conclude, a healthy work-life balance is key to ensuring a team’s productivity and success in their professional lives, as well as keeping morale high in their personal lives. If you’d like to hear more about our workplace practices, contact us at info@gvcvets.com.
