In-Home Euthanasia & Palliative Care Veterinarian – Hobart & Launceston, TAS

Location: Hobart & Launceston, Tasmania
Service: Rest Your Paws – Palliative Care & In-Home Euthanasia
Start Date: October (flexible)
Employment Type: Independent contractor (paid per visit)
Availability: Flexible few-hour windows across multiple days per week | No on-call system

Rest Your Paws is Australia’s leading in-home palliative care and euthanasia service, dedicated to providing compassionate, meaningful end-of-life experiences for pets and their families. We are expanding our reach across Hobart and Launceston and seeking caring and confident Veterinarians to help meet growing demand in Tasmania.

About the Role:
There are currently two veterinarians covering Hobart, with one due to start in October, but we are still seeking two additional vets for Hobart and two for Launceston. This flexible role is ideal for veterinarians who can offer availability across several days per week in shorter windows, providing either in-home euthanasia or palliative care consultations.
In Launceston, we are not yet established, so this is an excellent opportunity for a vet to help build the service locally with full business and clinical support from the Rest Your Paws team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-home euthanasia services with compassion and professionalism

  • Guide families through quality-of-life and end-of-life discussions

  • Optional: offer palliative care consultations to support elderly and terminally ill pets

  • Collaborate with the national team to establish and grow the local service

  • Represent Rest Your Paws’ values of empathy, respect, and integrity

Requirements:

  • BVSc or equivalent with TAS veterinary registration

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience

  • Excellent communication and emotional intelligence

  • Confident working independently while supported remotely

  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle

What’s on Offer:

  • Paid per visit (independent contractor model)

  • Flexible weekday and weekend scheduling

  • No on-call or after-hours requirements

  • Full equipment, supplies, and insurance provided

  • Comprehensive onboarding and CAETA-endorsed euthanasia training

  • Supportive, experienced national team with opportunities for regional growth
