Veterinary Surgeon – Advanced Surgical Opportunities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a surgical bias to join a 24-hour RCVS-accredited small animal hospital in Essex. This purpose-built hospital provides cutting-edge care across a broad range of specialisms, including emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, CT/MRI imaging, hydrotherapy, and physiotherapy.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex surgeries, including emergency procedures
- Manage complex medical cases with clinical autonomy
- Participate in a flexible 40-hour rota, including 1 in 4 weekends
- Support and collaborate with certificate-holding colleagues across surgery, orthopaedics, cardiology, exotics, and medicine
- Mentor and support junior veterinary team members
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the hospital’s services and clinical excellence
Requirements
- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
- Experienced in small animal surgery with a strong medical knowledge base
- Interest in laparoscopic surgery beneficial but not essential
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Flexible to work 1 in 4 weekends
- Part-time applicants considered if able to cover weekend rota
