Registered Veterinary Nurse (Orthopaedics & Theatre) – East London Area
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for theatre and orthopaedic surgery to join a busy 24-hour small animal hospital in the East London area. This role is ideal for an experienced RVN who thrives in a surgical environment and enjoys being at the heart of patient care during complex procedures.
The Role

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Weekends: 1:4 weekends (with TOIL)

Bank Holidays: Up to 3 per year

On-Call: Last-resort on-call rotation

Salary: £32,000–£35,000 (DOE)
You’ll work closely with the hospital’s orthopaedic surgeon, ensuring smooth and efficient patient flow throughout theatre. When orthopaedic cases aren’t scheduled, you’ll assist across other surgical areas within the hospital.
This position offers fantastic exposure to a high surgical caseload and the chance to develop your orthopaedic skills within a large, well-equipped referral and first opinion hospital. The site boasts a CT scanner, in-house laboratory, and a highly experienced multidisciplinary team including advanced practitioners in surgery and medicine.
The hospital team includes over 20 vets, 25+ RVNs, student nurses, and dedicated clinical assistants — creating a supportive, knowledge-sharing environment. You’ll also have mentorship from a senior theatre RVN, deputy head nurses, and a hospital manager with a wealth of experience supporting career development.
For the right candidate, there may be an opportunity to explore a Theatre Lead position in the future, offering further responsibility and an enhanced salary.
About You

RCVS-registered nurse with strong theatre and surgical experience

Confident assisting in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries

Organised, proactive, and enjoys working in a fast-paced hospital
