Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon
Nottinghamshire

Permanent • Full-time • Salary up to £70K DOE

We are assisting a well-established small animal hospital who are looking for an Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon to join their experienced and supportive team.


The Role

This permanent position will see you working as part of the Out of Hours (OOH) team, managing inpatients and taking OOH calls. The rota is one week on, starting Monday evening, and finishing the following Monday morning, followed by two weeks off.

You will have dedicated nurse support on the same rota to ensure continuity, and accommodation is provided during your working week in a nearby house used solely by the OOH team.


About the Hospital

  • Tier 3 hospital-status practice with a strong local reputation

  • A hybrid between first opinion and referral practice, with high-end facilities including:

    • Ultrasound, digital & dental radiography

    • Endoscopy, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy

    • Electrocautery, laparoscopy, tonometry, slit lamp

    • On-site lab with T4, SDMA, cortisol, bile acids, Coags, CPLI/FPLI, and more

    • Access to Imagyst for rapid haematology and cytology interpretations

  • Multi-disciplinary team with certificate holders in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesia, Dermatology

  • Regular complex procedures including BOAS, cruciate surgery (TPLO/CCWO), patella surgeries, fracture repair, cholecystectomy, liver lobe resection, and TECAs

  • Additional therapies including laser therapy, acupuncture, and physiotherapy

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon

  • Confident managing inpatients and handling OOH cases
