Veterinary Surgeon – 4-Day Week – Hertfordshire

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established small animal team based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. This role offers an excellent mix of consulting, operating, and hospital work, giving you real clinical variety within a supportive, collaborative environment.

You’ll be joining a multi-site small animal group with access to a purpose-built hospital, modern diagnostic equipment, and a knowledgeable team of vets and nurses with diverse clinical interests.

Hours & Rota

• 42 hours per week over 4 days

• 1 in 3 Saturdays

• 1 in 12 Sundays

• 1 Bank Holiday per year

Salary

• Competitive and dependent on experience

The Role

This position offers a balanced and varied caseload, including consulting, operating, and hospital-based duties. You’ll work within a friendly, experienced team and have opportunities to develop your clinical interests with supported CPD and certificate funding.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality first-opinion small animal veterinary care

• Perform routine surgeries and medical work-ups

• Build strong client relationships and ensure continuity of care

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple local sites

• Contribute to a positive, team-focused culture

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a UK small animal practice

• Competent in routine surgery and consultations

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Confident managing your own caseload

• Willingness to support other local branches when required
