Veterinary Surgeon
Small Animal – Full-Time

(4-day week, great rota, excellent work–life balance)

We’re working with a supportive small animal practice looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly 6-vet team. This role offers a balanced rota, strong clinical standards, and a genuinely encouraging working environment.

The Role

You’ll provide high-quality medical and surgical care in line with RCVS standards while maintaining strong communication and building great client relationships.
Key duties include:

  • Small animal consultations and medical case workups
  • Surgical procedures including neutering and general soft-tissue surgeries
  • Participation in a fair rota for emergency cover (no overnight on-call)
  • Accurate clinical note keeping and regular client updates
  • Supporting and supervising nurses and support staff where required
  • Providing clear treatment estimates and managing client expectations
  • Maintaining high standards of professionalism and punctuality
  • Participating in CPD and maintaining RCVS requirements

Rota & Working Hours

  • 4-day working week
  • Standard start: 8.30am (8am on op days)
  • Finish between 5.30pm–6.30pm depending on the rota
  • 1 in 5 full weekends – consults both mornings plus on-call to 5pm
  • Monday & Friday off following a duty weekend

Requirements

  • MRCVS
  • Post-qualification experience in small animal practice
  • Strong communication and client-care skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Good organisation and time management
  • Full UK driving licence
