Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal Practice

Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to join a progressive, well-equipped small animal practice in Nottingham? GVC is assisting a modern, purpose-built practice that prides itself on high clinical standards, early diagnostics, and a genuinely supportive team culture.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident vet who enjoys case continuity, preventative care, and ongoing clinical development within a collaborative environment.

The Role

You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality veterinary care, managing a varied caseload, and supporting pet wellbeing from diagnosis through to treatment outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing preventive healthcare, consultations, and surgical procedures

  • Diagnosing and managing a wide range of medical and surgical cases

  • Following treatment plans through with care and consistency

  • Working closely with vets, nurses, and reception colleagues

  • Maintaining a strong focus on patient welfare and client communication

About You

We’re ideally looking for:

  • A Veterinary Surgeon with 3+ years’ experience, including at least 1 year in UK practice

  • A strong interest in early diagnostics and case continuity

  • A commitment to continuous professional development

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • A compassionate, patient-focused approach to care

The Practice

You’ll be based in a purpose-built, spacious veterinary practice with excellent facilities and a well-established team. The practice supports learning at all levels and has a strong track record of developing both vets and nurses.

Current team structure includes:

  • 5 Veterinary Surgeons

  • 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses

  • 5 experienced reception team members

Several vets and nurses are currently working toward certificates, with strong encouragement and support for further clinical development.

  • Biochemistry, haematology, urinalysis & microscopy

  • Digital X-ray, dental X-ray & ultrasound

  • Orthopaedic equipment & Tonopen

  • Dental suite, imaging room & dedicated theatres

Building features:

  • 8 consulting rooms

  • 2 theatres

  • Imaging room & dental suite

Rota & Working Pattern

  • Vet shift patterns range between 8:00am – 9:00pm

  • Set day off included

  • 15-minute consultations

  • Weekend rota shared fairly
