ECC Veterinary Surgeon – 24-Hour Hospital

GVC are assisting a busy, well-equipped 24-hour small animal hospital in South Yorkshire that is seeking an experienced Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated ECC team. This is an excellent opportunity for a vet with strong ECC and critical care experience who is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The Role

You’ll work in a predominantly ECC capacity with a strong emphasis on critical care, patient advocacy, and clinical excellence. The hospital is purpose-built and exceptionally well resourced, offering an ideal setting for vets who enjoy complex case management and collaborative working.

The role is offered as 40 hours over 4 days per week, with a 1 in 6 full weekend rota, though part-time hours can be discussed for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional ECC and critical care to a high clinical standard
• Provide clear, compassionate communication to clients
• Create accurate treatment and care plans with transparent costings
• Ensure high standards of clinical governance and compliance
• Support, mentor and develop colleagues within the team
• Complete thorough clinical handovers and patient transfers
• Share clinical best practice across the wider veterinary team

Candidate Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Advanced ECC experience with confidence in critical care cases
• ECC certificate advantageous but not essential
• Strong clinical leadership and team-working skills
• Passion for progressive clinical culture and high-quality patient care
• Experience supporting nurse consults and Schedule 3 procedures
