Senior Veterinary Surgeon – Independent Small Animal Practice – East London, UK

An independent, well-equipped small animal practice in East London is seeking an experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join its growing team and play a key role in the ongoing development of the practice across two modern sites.

The Role

This is a full-time position of approximately 40 hours per week, with flexibility considered. The rota is designed to support a healthy work-life balance:

• No out-of-hours, on-call, night shifts, or Sundays

• Rolling Saturday rota

• 8-hour or 10-hour shifts available

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering a high standard of medical and surgical care

• Providing clinical leadership and guidance to less experienced vets

• Supporting and mentoring the wider veterinary team

• Contributing to clinical standards and practice development

• Working across two East London sites as part of one integrated team

The Practice

The practice is proudly independent and places a strong emphasis on clinical standards, collaboration, and efficiency. Facilities and equipment include:

• Separate consultation rooms

• Dedicated cat and dog wards

• Modern theatre and preparation areas

• Digital X-ray and dental X-ray

• Ultrasound

• In-house blood and urine analysers

• Multi-parameter monitoring

• Laser therapy

• Visiting orthopaedic and cardiology specialists

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Minimum of 3–5 years’ UK small animal experience

• Confident with a wide range of routine and more complex medical and surgical cases

• Comfortable taking clinical responsibility and mentoring colleagues

• Proactive, organised, and keen to contribute to practice growth

Salary and Benefits

• Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 DOE

• Higher packages considered for candidates with significant senior experience
