Veterinary Surgeon – Focus on Surgery – Large Team of Vets
An established small animal practice in Essex is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. The role is suited to an experienced clinician who wishes to manage their own surgical caseload within a collaborative, multi-site clinical team.
Who They Are
Part of a wider network of day and night practices, the practice benefits from certificate holders across surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, internal medicine, cardiology, and diagnostic imaging. On-site facilities include multiple consult rooms, theatre, digital x-ray, and an in-house laboratory, with access to nearby hospital facilities for CT, MRI, and endoscopy.
What the Role Involves

Managing and developing a personal surgical caseload with a strong orthopaedic focus

Performing advanced soft tissue procedures alongside fracture repairs and cruciate surgery

Participating in consulting duties as appropriate

Mentoring and supporting less experienced veterinary surgeons and recent graduates

Working closely with an experienced nursing and support team

Following cases through advanced diagnostics and procedures where desired

Salary: negotiable, dependent on experience

Full-time, 40 hours per week, with 4 or 5-day week options

Weekend on-call rota: 1 in 10; no out-of-hours work

Candidate Requirements

RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon

Holder of a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery

Confident in orthopaedic procedures, fracture repairs, cruciate surgery, and advanced soft tissue surgery

Comfortable balancing surgical and consulting responsibilities

Able to mentor and support colleagues within a team environment
