Locum Veterinarian – Yeppoon, QLD

We are seeking an experienced and confident Locum Veterinarian to support a well-established small animal clinic in Yeppoon, Queensland, from start/mid-March through to the end of August.

This is a fantastic coastal opportunity with flexible hours and strong nursing support.

The Role

• Small animal only

• Minimum 1-month commitment (longer blocks preferred)

• Full-time or part-time hours available

• Must be comfortable with sole charge

• Team consulting model with highly experienced nursing staff

The clinic runs a collaborative structure across three teams:

• Medical

• Consulting

• Surgery

You will be supported by:

• 9 qualified nurses

• 5 trainee nurses

• 3 vets

• Animal attendants & reception team

You must be comfortable delegating to nurses, including blood collection, catheter placement and radiography.

Hours

• Monday–Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm

• Thursday late shift: 5:00pm – 7:00pm

• Saturdays: 8:30am – 12:30pm (consults only unless emergency presents)

• 2 weekends per month required

After-Hours

• Minimum 2 weeknights per week (close to open)

• Team-based triage system

• Nurses manage calls and telehealth where appropriate

• May not always require attending the clinic in person

• Paid at a set rate (not percentage-based)

• Partnership with local council (may involve euthanasia of feral cats – not recently required but must be comfortable if needed)
