A well-equipped small animal practice in North West London is seeking a confident Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join the team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

This is a part-time role (3 days per week) offering the opportunity to lead clinical standards in a supportive, well-structured environment with experienced nursing support and access to a nearby 24-hour hospital.

This position would suit an experienced vet comfortable with sole charge who enjoys building client relationships and delivering high-quality first opinion care.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality consultations and routine surgical procedures
• Take clinical leadership within the practice
• Work confidently in a sole charge setting
• Collaborate with an experienced RVN and Veterinary Care Assistant
• Maintain excellent clinical and client care standards
• Liaise with the nearby 24-hour hospital for referrals and additional support

Practice Facilities

• Two dedicated consult rooms
• Digital X-ray
• Dental suite
• Fully equipped operating theatre
• Support from a nearby 24-hour hospital for emergencies and complex cases

Role Details

• 12-month maternity cover contract
• Part-time: 3 days per week
• Salary up to £60,000 FTE (pro rata)
• 1 in 3 Sundays rota
• Only 2 weeks of on-call per year
• Sole charge role with experienced on-site support

Candidate Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Confident with routine surgery and consultations
• Comfortable working sole charge
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Previous experience in a lead or senior role preferred
