Are you a Senior Mixed Animal Veterinarian with strong companion animal expertise, ready for your next career move in one of New Zealand’s most stunning locations?

I’m currently partnering with a well-established, forward-thinking veterinary clinic in Wānaka to recruit an experienced and motivated veterinarian to join their busy, close-knit team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference while advancing your career in a highly supportive environment.

This is a full-time role (40 hours per week), including rostered Saturdays and participation in a mixed after-hours rotation.

The Opportunity

Based in one of New Zealand’s most beautiful regions, this role offers a strong companion animal focus within a mixed animal setting.

You’ll be joining a proactive and collaborative team that genuinely values professional development, clinical excellence, and a positive workplace culture.

Key Aspects of the Role:

  • Deliver high-quality companion animal medicine and surgery

  • Contribute to occasional mixed animal cases and after-hours provision

  • Participate in a shared after-hours roster

  • Work alongside a skilled team of veterinarians, nurses, and support staff

  • Opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities (for the right candidate)

Some sheep, beef, and equine experience is required for after-hours coverage. Additional strengths in orthopaedics, dentistry, or ultrasonography will be viewed favourably.

What We Are Looking For

  • NZ Veterinary Council Registration and current APC (or eligibility for registration)

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (or equivalent)

  • Proven experience in mixed animal practice, with a strong companion animal skill set

  • Confidence managing complex or challenging cases

  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills

  • A collaborative, team-oriented mindset

  • Leadership experience or interest in clinic operations (highly regarded)

What’s on Offer

This is an opportunity to join a respected, community-focused veterinary clinic that is committed to investing in its people and fostering long-term careers.

Benefits include:

  • Competitive remuneration package

  • 3% KiwiSaver contribution

  • Generous CPD support and structured professional development reviews

  • Employee Assistance Programme

  • Annual flu vaccination

  • Birthday leave

  • Long service leave

  • Parental leave top-ups

  • Flexible working arrangements where possible

  • Staff discounts on animal care services and products

You’ll have access to modern equipment, strong clinical support, and a workplace culture that prioritises wellbeing and professional growth.
