Mixed Veterinary Surgeon – Angus, Scotland

Independent Practice | 70% Small Animal / 30% Farm & Equine | 1 in 15 OOH | 42.5 Days Holiday

An increasingly rare opportunity to join a thriving, genuinely mixed veterinary practice in the heart of Angus and eastern Perthshire.

We’re working with a long-established, progressive independent practice seeking a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join their supportive and forward-thinking team. With over 75 years of independent ownership and strong links to XLVets, the practice combines traditional mixed practice values with modern clinical standards and excellent CPD support.

This is a true mixed role — ideal for a vet who enjoys variety and wants to maintain skills across species.

The Role

  • Approximately 70% Small Animal / 30% Farm & Equine

  • Involvement in routine and emergency care across all species

  • Consultations, diagnostics, surgery and preventative health work

  • Role can be tailored to individual species preferences and clinical interests

  • 1 in 15 on-call rota with time off in lieu

You’ll be joining a large, collaborative team with a strong support network across vets, nurses and support staff. Clinical development is actively encouraged, and the culture genuinely prioritises teamwork and wellbeing.

About You

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon

  • Minimum 2 years’ mixed practice experience

  • Confident with both routine and emergency cases

  • Strong communicator with a proactive, team-focused mindset

  • Passionate about delivering high standards of care across species

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience)

  • Full or part-time options available

  • 1 in 15 on-call rota

  • 42.5 days holiday

  • 5 days CPD + £1,500 allowance

  • Certificate support encouraged

  • Practice vehicle available for personal use if desired

  • RCVS, VDS and one additional professional membership paid

  • Modern facilities and well-equipped practice

  • Friendly, supportive team culture

Why This Role?

Mixed practice opportunities with this level of species balance and support are becoming increasingly rare. This is a chance to work in a progressive, independently owned environment where clinical excellence, development and team culture genuinely matter.

Enjoy life in beautiful rural Scotland — with mountains, forests and coastline on your doorstep, while still benefiting from excellent transport links and access to larger towns and cities.
