Looking for a role with genuine autonomy and the opportunity to shape the future of a practice? This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to step into a Lead Veterinary Surgeon role in Staffordshire, UK, offering up to £80,000 (FTE, DOE)

This position is ideal for a confident vet with at least 3 years’ experience who enjoys surgery, mentoring others, and influencing clinical standards. You’ll be joining during an exciting period of refurbishment and growth, giving you the chance to help shape the clinical direction of the practice.

The Role

You will lead the clinical team while remaining hands-on with surgery and consultations, supported by experienced practice management and a strong clinical team.

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver high-quality medical and surgical care to patients
• Lead and support the clinical team, mentoring junior vets
• Handle more complex surgical and medical cases
• Maintain and develop clinical standards and protocols
• Collaborate with leadership to support practice growth and development
• Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture

This role offers excellent clinical freedom and supports vets with a surgical bias or special interests.

Working Pattern

• 4 days per week
• 1 in 3 Saturdays
• No Sundays
• No out-of-hours (OOH)
• Part-time applications considered

This rota provides excellent work-life balance while maintaining clinical variety.

About the Practice

You’ll be joining a stable, friendly, and highly experienced team, with some staff members having been with the practice for over 20 years. The practice has a welcoming, family-friendly culture and is currently undergoing refurbishment and rebranding, making it an exciting time to join and help shape its future.

You’ll be supported by experienced leadership and practice management, allowing you to focus on clinical excellence while developing leadership skills.

Candidate Requirements

• MRCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Minimum 3 years’ UK clinical experience
• Confident in routine surgery and consultations
• Experience mentoring or supporting colleagues preferred
• Leadership experience beneficial but not essential
• Surgical bias or special interests welcomed and supported
