Position: Small Animal Medicine Specialist

A well-established, independently owned specialist referral hospital group in Victoria is seeking a Small Animal Medicine Specialist to join its growing team. The group provides 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care services across three well-equipped hospitals located in Kensington, Kew and Geelong. This role will be primarily based in Kensington and Kew, with opportunities to work from Geelong for interested candidates.

Each centre is equipped with 64-slice CT, comprehensive in-house clinical pathology, a wide range of endoscopes, new digital fluoroscopy, digital radiography, high-level ultrasound machines, and user-friendly cloud-based PACS software.

The hospital manages a high and diverse caseload of complex and rewarding cases, including minimally invasive cardiac procedures and interventional radiology. Its core mission is to provide referral medicine services in close partnership with referring veterinarians, maintaining strong communication with both pet owners and referring clinics.

The organisation is committed to delivering outstanding, collaborative veterinary care in a practical and empathetic manner, while prioritising a healthy work-life balance. Access to an Employee Assistance Program supports staff mental health and wellbeing.

The Medicine Department works closely with Specialist Surgery and Oncology services and is supported by a 24-hour Emergency and Critical Care team. The successful applicant will join a dynamic and highly collaborative department that includes two registered Internal Medicine Specialists, a resident, and three interns. Specialist qualifications are preferred; however, applications from registrars who have completed their training are welcomed.

Benefits Include:

  • Competitive and negotiable salary based on experience

  • 4 weeks annual leave plus 1 week conference/study leave

  • 4-day working week

  • State-of-the-art facilities and equipment

  • A positive, team-focused culture that genuinely values work-life balance

  • 100% veterinarian-owned and operated business

  • Access to an Employee Assistance Program through the Cairnmillar Institute

  • Relocation assistance and skilled migration sponsorship if required

The hospitals are located in three diverse and highly desirable areas around Melbourne. Geelong offers coastal living near iconic destinations such as Bells Beach and the Great Ocean Road. Kew provides leafy inner-eastern living with excellent schools and easy access to the CBD, while Kensington offers vibrant inner-west convenience with excellent public transport connectivity.

This represents an outstanding opportunity to join a progressive and collegial referral hospital where high-level medicine, meaningful patient outcomes, and professional growth are genuinely supported within a collaborative environment.

Remuneration is generous and negotiable based on experience.
