Join a growing independent practice in the West Midlands, working a fixed Monday–Thursday night rota with weekends off and a varied ECC caseload.

The Opportunity

We’re working with a well-established, independent small animal practice in the West Midlands, seeking a confident Night Veterinary Surgeon to join their dedicated team.

This role offers a great balance of clinical exposure and lifestyle—working consistent night shifts Monday to Thursday, with every weekend off.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet who enjoys emergency and critical care, particularly someone confident in surgical procedures, as the caseload includes a high number of emergency surgeries.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality overnight care for inpatients and emergency cases
• Manage a varied ECC caseload, including medical and surgical cases
• Perform emergency procedures, including a high volume of caesarean sections
• Work collaboratively with a night RVN and receptionist
• Ensure excellent patient and client care at all times

About the Role

• 4 nights per week (Monday–Thursday)
• Shifts: 8:00pm – 8:00am
• No weekends required
• Typically 4 inpatients per night plus emergencies
• Supported by 1 RVN (rotating 7 on / 7 off) and a receptionist

Requirements

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
• Confident working sole charge overnight
• Strong ECC skills and decision-making ability
• Must be confident performing caesarean sections
• Experience in a busy emergency or OOH setting desirable
