Location
Gallup is a small city in western New Mexico, right along historic Route 66 and close to the Arizona border. It has a very distinct identity shaped by Native American culture, desert landscapes, and its railroad history. Gallup is relatively small (around 20,000 people), with a slower pace of life. It feels more like a cultural crossroads than a typical city—blending Indigenous, Hispanic, and Western influences.
It has a semi-arid climate: hot summers, cool winters, and lots of sunshine. Nights can get surprisingly cold because of the elevation.

Overall, Gallup isn’t a big tourist hub in the usual sense, but it’s a unique place if you’re interested in Native American culture, Route 66 history, and the landscapes of the American Southwest.

To Be Considered for This Position, You Must Have:

  • DVM/VMD degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited university
  • Active California veterinary license in good standing
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Confidence in clinical decision-making and case management
  • Commitment to compassionate, individualized patient care

This role is advertised by Global Veterinary Careers, who operate as an employment business and recruitment agency. We work with independent practices and corporate groups worldwide across general practice, leadership, emergency, and specialist veterinary roles.
