RCVS hospital, 4 theatres, full ortho kit, radioactive iodine referral service & certificate support — surgical-focused role on the Norfolk coast.

Who They Are

This is an RCVS-accredited veterinary hospital operating across two sites on the Norfolk/Suffolk coast, set within the stunning surroundings of the Norfolk Broads — with a reasonable commute to London for those who want the best of both worlds. With a wide and varied caseload, exceptional facilities, and a 24-hour on-site out-of-hours service provided by an established overnight care provider, this is a practice built for serious clinical work.

The practice runs a radioactive iodine referral service, accepting referrals from across the wider region — a genuinely rare offering that speaks to the clinical ambition and scope of what is available here. A visiting cardiologist provides additional specialist support, and the breadth of equipment on-site is exceptional for a practice of this type.

This is a stable, well-resourced practice with the infrastructure, caseload, and clinical culture to support a vet with a genuine passion for surgery to thrive and grow.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a wide and varied surgical and consulting caseload across two sites, with two dedicated full operating days per week
  • Perform a broad range of surgical procedures utilising four fully equipped theatres, full orthopaedic kit including TPLO and TTA plates, and lap spay kit
  • Conduct diagnostics using DR X-ray, ultrasound, echocardiography, video-assisted bronchoscopy and endoscopy, and a fully equipped on-site laboratory including endocrine testing
  • Deliver advanced patient care using on-site EPOC, lactate monitoring, blood and plasma storage facilities, and an Elixir kit for toxicology emergencies
  • Support and contribute to the radioactive iodine referral service, working alongside regional referral cases
  • Collaborate with a visiting cardiologist and wider clinical team to deliver high standards of patient care
  • Deliver care aligned with RCVS best practice guidelines, with a focus on patient safety, pain management, and evidence-based medicine
  • Communicate treatment plans clearly with clients and referring practices, ensuring continuity and quality of care

What You'll Gain

  • Salary up to £70,000 per annum, depending on experience
  • Two full dedicated operating days per week alongside consulting days — structured to build surgical confidence and capability
  • Full support to study towards a certificate, with external and internal CPD tailored to individual needs
  • Clinical support from experienced colleagues across both sites
  • Exposure to a genuinely diverse and complex caseload including orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, endoscopy, toxicology, and radioactive iodine referral work
  • Flexible working opportunities with a genuine commitment to finding the right fit
  • Optional out-of-hours ECC shifts available for those with an interest in emergency and critical care
  • Structured rota: 1 in 4 Saturday mornings, with weekends, bank holidays, and nights fully covered by the on-site overnight care service

What's Needed

  • RCVS registration (essential)
  • A demonstrable interest in surgery and a desire to develop surgical skills within a well-equipped, supportive environment
  • Competency across first-opinion consulting and surgical procedures
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-site clinical team
  • Commitment to high clinical standards, patient safety, and evidence-based practice
  • Interest in emergency and critical care is advantageous but not essential

Full-Time (4 days per week) | Flexible working options considered
