Are you a positive small animal vet with a growth mindset, ready to take the next step into a leadership role? A well-established, independently run small animal practice in the West Midlands is seeking a Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join and support their experienced clinical team.

The Practice
This is a long-standing, locally owned small animal practice with a strong reputation in the community. The team is led by highly experienced veterinary surgeons, supported by a skilled nursing team and a dedicated support function including client care and practice management.

The practice benefits from a varied caseload, with a high proportion of insured clients, allowing for excellent clinical work-ups and continuity of care. Facilities are well-equipped, including advanced surgical and diagnostic tools such as laparoscopic equipment, endoscopy, dental x-ray, and orthopaedic kit.

They are committed to delivering high-quality clinical care and are actively working towards advanced clinical standards, including pain management accreditation.

The Role
This is a key senior position within the practice, combining clinical work with leadership responsibilities. You will play an integral role in supporting and guiding the wider team, including mentoring less experienced vets.

  • Full-time role with a structured and well-managed diary
  • Dedicated surgical day each week
  • 15-minute consults, with longer appointments available where needed
  • Regular catch-up slots and protected admin time built into the day
  • 1 in 3 Saturdays (consulting only, sole charge)
  • No Sundays
  • Bank holidays on a rota

Flexibility is offered, with a strong emphasis on work-life balance, including a regular weekday off and structured finish times.

About You

  • Experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon
  • Confident with routine surgery and general practice
  • Keen to take on leadership and mentoring responsibilities
  • Positive attitude with a growth mindset
  • Interest in developing clinical interests (certificates supported)

What’s on Offer

  • Salary up to £65,000 FTE (dependent on experience)
  • Flexible working options
  • Generous CPD allowance with full certificate support
  • Paid professional memberships
  • 6.6 weeks annual leave from day one
  • Additional birthday leave
  • Enhanced employer pension contributions
  • Private healthcare support

Location
Located in the West Midlands, the practice offers excellent access to both countryside and city life, with strong transport links and easy access to Birmingham.
