Job Description

Objective

The successful candidate will enhance the knowledge, growth, and overall development of veterinary students through contributions to courses administered by the Department of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences. This will include delivering assigned lectures, facilitating small group learning, contributing to course material development, and assisting in the creation and review of examination content.

Essential Functions

Teaching & Academic Contribution

  • Deliver lectures within the Veterinary Biomedical Sciences curriculum
  • Lead and facilitate small group teaching sessions
  • Review, contribute to, and develop course materials
  • Develop and review examination questions
  • Support the delivery of high-quality veterinary education

Research & Scholarly Activity

  • Conduct research and teaching in Small Animal Nutrition
  • Contribute to institutional research focus areas, including:
    • One Health
    • Wildlife & Conservation Medicine
    • Climate Change
    • Zoonotic Diseases
    • Public Health
  • Advise and mentor DVM and graduate students
  • Engage in both independent and collaborative research within your area of expertise
  • Develop research projects suitable for veterinary student participation
  • Collaborate with faculty across departments where appropriate

University & Academic Service

  • Participate in Faculty Senate activities
  • Attend departmental meetings as required
  • Contribute to departmental faculty evaluations
  • Serve on college and university committees

Qualifications

  • DVM required
  • Board eligibility or board certification preferred
  • Strong interest and/or experience in Small Animal Nutrition research
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to contribute to teaching and scholarly activity
  • Interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary research strongly desirable
