Who They Are
I’m working with a well-established small animal practice group in North Essex, operating as part of a multi-site network with a busy hub and surrounding branches.
This is a supportive, forward-thinking environment offering a strong mix of routine and advanced clinical work, including orthopaedics, laparoscopic surgery, diagnostics, and inpatient care. The team culture is collaborative, stable, and focused on continuous improvement across clinical standards and client experience.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage the nursing team (RVNs, SVNs, and PCAs)
- Work alongside the Clinical Director and Practice Manager to drive clinical standards
- Deliver and maintain high-quality nursing care across consults, theatre, and inpatient care
- Oversee clinical governance, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives
- Support training, mentoring, and development of the nursing team
- Act as Clinical Coach where required
- Contribute to stock, equipment, and operational decision-making
- Support wider leadership input on practice performance

What They’re Looking For
Leadership Experience – Confident team leader
Criteria: RCVS registered RVN with experience mentoring or leading a nursing team
Clinical Standards – Strong all-round nursing ability
Criteria: Comfortable across consults, theatre, and inpatient care
Communication Skills – Strong relationship builder
Criteria: Able to work effectively across clinical and non-clinical teams
Development Mindset – Passion for improvement
Criteria: Interest in CPD, training, and raising clinical standards
Commercial Awareness (Desirable)
Criteria: Interest in practice performance and operational efficiency
