Who They Are
I’m working with a well-established small animal hospital in North Essex, offering a high standard of inpatient, emergency, and critical care services.
This is a busy, fully equipped hospital environment with a strong nursing and veterinary team, including certificate holders across ECC, anaesthesia, and behaviour. The culture is supportive, clinically focused, and committed to maintaining excellent patient care standards.
What You’ll Do
- Provide overnight care for hospitalised and critical patients
- Deliver high-quality inpatient monitoring and nursing care
- Triage and support emergency cases during night shifts
- Work in a sole charge RVN role with veterinary backup off-site
- Maintain high clinical standards across all inpatient care
- Ensure smooth handover between day and night teams

What They’re Looking For
Clinical Experience – Strong inpatient nursing ability
Criteria: RCVS registered RVN with experience in hospital or ECC settings preferred
Independence – Confident sole charge capability
Criteria: Able to manage night shifts independently with remote vet support
Critical Care Skills – Calm under pressure
Criteria: Experience or strong interest in emergency and inpatient care
Organisation – Strong prioritisation skills
Criteria: Able to manage multiple inpatients and emergencies overnight
Team Fit – Proactive and reliable
Criteria: Works well within a structured hospital environment
