Who They Are

This is a modern, well-established veterinary hospital group operating across two sites in East London, delivering high-quality care to a diverse and loyal community client base. With a strong focus on collaborative working, shared learning, and clinical excellence, this is a practice where teamwork and purpose sit at the heart of everything the clinical team does.

The hospitals are well-equipped and purpose-built: separate dog and cat kennelling, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases, and extensive orthopaedic equipment across both sites. The clinical teams bring varied interests and a genuine culture of case discussion, knowledge-sharing, and mutual support — making this an ideal environment for a Team Leader who values both clinical depth and strong team culture.

An engaged leadership team is dedicated to supporting a smooth transition into the role, with relocation support and visa sponsorship available for the right candidate.

What You'll Do

  • Hold clinical governance responsibility across both hospital sites, leading the veterinary surgeon team to deliver an efficient, professional, and caring service
  • Manage a surgically biased caseload with a pragmatic, evidence-based approach to clinical decision-making
  • Lead, coach, and develop the veterinary surgeon team — including recruitment, selection, and performance development
  • Share skills and lead by example across clinical practice, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and shared learning
  • Contribute actively to case discussions and treatment planning within a collaborative, multi-interest clinical team
  • Utilise on-site facilities including radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases, and extensive orthopaedic equipment
  • Deliver care aligned with RCVS best practice guidelines, maintaining high standards of patient safety, pain management, and evidence-based medicine
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with a wide range of clients across a diverse community setting

What You'll Gain

  • Salary up to £75,000 including allowances, dependent on experience
  • 1 in 7–8 weekends with enhanced pay and time off in lieu
  • 5 days CPD with £1,000 annual CPD allowance
  • Full RCVS fees paid
  • Extensive internal CPD programme plus funded access to BSAVA Congress and London Vet Show
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with option to buy or sell up to 5 additional days
  • Three additional paid special days annually — volunteering, celebration, and wellbeing
  • Generous pension: employer contributions starting at 5% rising to 10%
  • Life assurance at 4x annual salary
  • AXA Health Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 wellbeing support and private medical cover
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, and adoption leave
  • 10% discount on pet insurance plus access to staff veterinary services
  • Retail, holiday, and lifestyle discount platform
  • Relocation support available for candidates moving to join the team
  • Visa sponsorship and Certificate of Sponsorship available for eligible international candidates

What's Needed

  • RCVS registration (essential)
  • Proven clinical leadership experience or a clear and demonstrable readiness to step into a Team Leader role
  • Surgical confidence with a pragmatic, evidence-based approach to clinical decision-making
  • Strong coaching and mentoring capability with a commitment to developing individuals at every level
  • Excellent communication skills across a diverse client base and within a collaborative clinical team
  • Ability to hold clinical governance responsibility across a dual-site hospital environment
