A well-established and busy mixed practice in Townsville is seeking an experienced Locum Veterinarian to assist with upcoming cover.

This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a supportive 7-vet team with a highly varied caseload and strong equine component.

The Role
• 4 days per week (option to pick up additional days if desired)
• Shift times: 8:00am – 6:00pm
• Mixed caseload: approx. 45% equine, 45% small animal, 10% cattle/goats
• Combination of in-clinic and ambulatory work
• No sole charge in clinic
• Some sole charge required for ambulatory work (vaccinations, dentals, eye checks)
• Participation in after-hours (equine only) on a shared roster (approx. 1 in 4 weekends)

• After-hours incentive: 100% of professional fees paid to the vet (approx. $372 per call)

The Clinic
You will be joining a collaborative and experienced 7-vet team, including strong equine support. The clinic is well-equipped and offers exposure to a wide range of medical, surgical, and ambulatory cases across multiple species.

The team is known for being friendly, down-to-earth, and supportive, making it an ideal environment for a locum looking to settle into a longer block.

About You
• Minimum 5 years’ experience preferred
• Confident working across mixed practice
• Comfortable with ambulatory equine work
• Strong communication and team skills
• Ability to work both independently (on the road) and within a team
