Position Overview

As an experienced Veterinary Nurse, you will play a key role in supporting veterinarians and delivering high standards of clinical care. You will be involved in all aspects of patient management and help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the clinic.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Provide hands-on nursing care during consultations, procedures, and recovery, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Veterinary Support: Assist veterinarians with examinations, anaesthesia, surgery, diagnostics, and consultations.
• Client Communication: Offer clear and compassionate guidance to pet owners on treatments, medications, and ongoing care.
• Laboratory Work: Conduct in-house diagnostic testing (e.g. bloodwork, urinalysis, cytology) and prepare samples for external labs.
• Surgical Assistance: Prepare patients for surgery, monitor anaesthesia, and provide pre- and post-operative care.
• Medication Management: Administer medications and maintain accurate inventory of supplies.
• Records Management: Maintain thorough and accurate patient records.
• Reception Duties: Assist with client interactions and appointment scheduling using veterinary software systems.
• Sterilisation & Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, sterilised, and maintained.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians and support staff to deliver exceptional care.

Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Veterinary Nurse in a clinical setting
• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of animal health, treatments, and clinical procedures
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with veterinary practice management software
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Compassionate, professional, and team-oriented approach
• Experience with anaesthesia, surgery, and emergency care highly regarded
