Do you enjoy surgery and mentoring but want to step away from the pressure of financial targets and corporate politics?
Looking for a genuine leadership role where you can shape clinical standards, support younger vets, and still enjoy being hands-on in surgery?

A client we are representing is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to join their established small animal clinic in North Brisbane.

This is a true clinical leadership position within a collaborative 4-vet team. The current Veterinary Director is beginning to step back, creating an opportunity for an experienced vet to take the lead clinically while still being heavily involved in surgery and case management.

The clinic has a strong surgical focus, including TPLOs and orthopaedics, making this an excellent fit for a vet who enjoys complex surgery and mentoring developing clinicians.

The Role

• Lead a collaborative 4-vet team
• Strong surgical caseload with orthopaedic exposure including TPLOs
• Clinical leadership and mentoring responsibilities
• No financial management responsibilities
• Support and guide younger vets within the team
• Work closely with a supportive Practice Manager who joined late last year
• Enjoy a genuinely relaxed, modern team culture with plenty of banter and collaboration

The Team

You’ll be joining a clinic with:
• 4 consult rooms
• Dedicated surgical and treatment facilities
• A supportive Veterinary Director transitioning out of full-time leadership
• A growing and engaged team environment that values progression and teamwork

This is not a clinic stuck in old-school ways of thinking. The team are looking for someone approachable, progressive, and team-oriented who enjoys helping build a positive workplace culture.

About You

• Experienced small animal veterinarian
• Confident with surgery and keen interest in orthopaedics
• Comfortable mentoring and supporting junior vets
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Enjoys being part of a close-knit and collaborative team
• Eligible for veterinary registration in Australia
• Full Australian working rights required

Why Consider This Role?

• Strong surgical and orthopaedic caseload
• Genuine leadership opportunity without financial pressure
• Supportive and modern clinic culture
• Stable and experienced team
• Opportunity to influence clinical direction and mentorship

The clinic recognises that location and the current veterinary market can make finding the right person challenging, so they are open-minded and genuinely motivated to find the right long-term fit.
