Senior GP Veterinary Surgeon – East London | Hospital Role | Up to £80K
Looking to take the next step in your veterinary career within a large hospital environment? This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior GP Veterinary Surgeon to join a highly regarded veterinary hospital in East London, supporting and leading a collaborative GP team while working within a fast-paced and clinically advanced setting.
The Role
This full-time Senior GP Veterinary Surgeon role would suit a well-rounded vet, ideally with hospital experience, who is passionate about delivering excellent patient and client care while supporting and mentoring colleagues.
Working within a busy hospital environment, no two days are the same, with exposure to a diverse caseload across first opinion, emergency, critical care and internal referrals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering a high and continually improving standard of evidence-based clinical care
- Leading and participating in the consulting, medical and surgical rota
- Supporting and mentoring junior vets and trainee colleagues
- Acting as a VetGDP Advisor and supporting graduate development
- Promoting excellent communication across hospital and branch teams
- Encouraging a positive and productive working environment
- Supporting team morale and fostering strong working relationships
- Leading and encouraging clinical CPD, including monthly journal clubs
This role combines clinical work with leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for a vet ready to progress into a senior hospital position.
Working Pattern
- Average 40 hours per week
- 1 in 3 Saturdays
- 1 in 6 Sundays
- Exposure across consulting, surgery, wards and ECC

This large veterinary hospital delivers exceptional first opinion, emergency, critical care and referral services to clients and a network of local branches.
The hospital offers access to advanced diagnostic and surgical facilities, including:
- CT scanner
- Commercial laboratory
- Strong internal medicine support
- Advanced orthopaedic surgery
- Soft tissue surgery
- Minimally invasive surgical procedures
You will be joining a large and supportive multidisciplinary team including:
- Approximately 25 Veterinary Surgeons
- 27 RVNs
- 14 SVNs
- 7 VCAs
- Dedicated front-of-house team
Clinical teams are supported by an established leadership structure including senior RVNs, deputy head nurses, head nurse, head vet and hospital manager.
