A mixed practice clinic in Ashburton, located in the heart of New Zealand’s Mid Canterbury region, is seeking one or two Locum Veterinarians to assist through the busy spring season. This role would suit experienced large animal vets with strong dairy experience who are keen to immerse themselves in a supportive rural clinic environment while enjoying everything the South Island has to offer.

The clinic has hosted many international locums over the years, with vets consistently providing excellent feedback about the team, culture, and lifestyle opportunities in the region.

Clinical caseload includes:

• Dairy cattle work
• Calvings
• C-sections
• Fetotomies
• Metricuring and reproduction work
• Additional companion animal, sheep, beef, and deer work available

After hours:

• 1 in 3 weekends on-call
• One weekday on-call shift per week

Requirements:

• BVSc or equivalent, with registration (or eligibility) in New Zealand
• Strong dairy cattle experience
• Confident performing calvings, C-sections, and reproduction work
• Comfortable participating in an after-hours rota
