Who they are
This is a small animal practice on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire that has clearly thought hard about what a genuinely good place to work looks like, and then built it. No egos. No targets. No corporate pressure. A proper team that looks out for each other, closes the practice for a protected lunch hour every single day, and actively supports neurodivergent team members as part of working towards an autism-friendly award.

The practice sees a varied caseload including some exotic species. Three highly capable RVNs fully utilising Schedule 3, a strong hands-on support team, 15-minute appointments as standard with flexibility to take longer when needed, and a new graduate vet currently working through their VetGDP programme who will need mentoring and support from the right senior vet.

Facilities include a dedicated theatre, large prep area, separate kennels and cattery, digital X-ray, ultrasound and a tonopen. On-site parking. Easy access to the M1 and East Midlands Airport. A genuinely nice client base. Dogs welcome at work.

What you will do
You will be working across a varied small animal caseload with some exotic cases, carrying out consultations and procedures, and providing mentoring support to a new graduate vet working through their VetGDP. You will bring confidence without arrogance, enjoy the team banter without losing sight of when to be serious, and genuinely care about clients and patients.

Full time preferred with genuine flexibility — part time splits and term time contracts are open to discussion. One in four weekends. No out of hours.

What you will gain
From £65,000 depending on experience. A team that genuinely covers each other for holidays without making it difficult. A practice that does not normalise burnout. Protected lunch every day. Dogs at work. The Peak District on the doorstep. A genuinely good place to spend your working life.

What they need from you
An experienced vet comfortable mentoring a new graduate. Confident in clinical work and comfortable with some exotic species, or at least open to it. A team player with genuine warmth who cares about doing the job properly and wants to be somewhere they can be themselves.
