Who they are

This is a thriving, forward-thinking small animal practice in Nottinghamshire with a strong clinical focus, a genuine teaching culture and a team that has been built with real care since the practice opened in 2014. Owner-led, collaborative and progressive — it is the kind of practice where vets are supported to develop and where clinical standards are taken seriously.

The practice holds RCVS accreditation, ISFM Silver Cat Friendly accreditation and RWAF Silver Plus Rabbit Friendly accreditation. It is also a proud teaching practice regularly supporting student veterinary nurses and vet students, with a certificate holder in exotic animal practice among the owners. The exotic caseload is genuine and varied, and advanced applications are warmly welcomed with enhanced salary available to reflect additional qualifications.

The team is made up of four vets, seven RVNs, four client care advisors and a dedicated practice manager. Facilities include a full in-house laboratory suite, digital radiography, advanced ultrasound with cardiac probe, ECG, tonopen and separate dog, cat and exotic wards.

What you will do

You will be working across a varied first opinion caseload including small animals and exotics, carrying out routine surgeries and consultations, working up interesting cases with the support of an experienced clinical team around you. Sole charge is minimal and there is strong clinical support available for non-routine procedures. As a teaching practice there is also the option to be involved in mentoring SVNs and vet students if that is something that appeals.

Four days per week, 35 to 40 hours. One in four Saturdays from 9am to 5pm. No out of hours. A fixed regular day off the same each week so life outside work is easy to plan.

What you will gain

Up to £60,000 depending on experience, with enhanced salary available for certificate holders. Generous CPD budget with five paid CPD days per year. Full certificate progression support. Paid RCVS, BVA and VDS memberships. Generous holiday allowance. Enhanced maternity and paternity leave. Birthday off. Regular wellbeing afternoons during the working day. Contributory pension scheme. Two free Vac4Life policies. Work anniversary celebrations. 20 percent staff discount at partner pet care and retail brands.

What they need from you

A confident Veterinary Surgeon comfortable with routine surgery and consultations, who enjoys working up interesting cases, values professional development and wants to be part of a progressive, clinically strong team. A passion for animal welfare, excellent communication skills and a genuine team player attitude. Certificate holders and those with advanced experience are particularly welcome.
