Deputy Head Veterinary Surgeon – South Yorkshire

Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to take the next step into leadership? This is an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Head Veterinary Surgeon to join a modern, purpose-built small animal practice in South Yorkshire. Ideal for a vet with at least three years of UK GP experience, this role combines hands-on clinical work with mentoring, leadership and the opportunity to help shape the future of a thriving practice.

The Role

As Deputy Head Veterinary Surgeon, you'll work closely with the Head Vet to deliver exceptional clinical care while supporting and developing the wider veterinary team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident GP vet who enjoys mentoring colleagues and contributing to high clinical standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality preventative and medical care to small animal patients.
  • Diagnosing and treating a wide range of medical and surgical cases.
  • Supporting the Head Vet with clinical leadership and day-to-day operations.
  • Mentoring and coaching fellow veterinary surgeons.
  • Promoting clinical excellence and best practice across the practice.
  • Helping develop and maintain a positive, collaborative team culture.

The role is ideally based around 39 hours across four set days, with a 1 in 4 weekend rota. Flexible working arrangements will also be considered to support a healthy work-life balance.

About You

You'll be a confident Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with:

  • A minimum of 3 years' UK GP veterinary experience.
  • Strong medical and surgical skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • A passion for mentoring and developing colleagues.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
