An established 24/7 emergency and referral hospital in Perth’s southern suburbs is seeking experienced Emergency Locum Veterinarians to assist with overnight cover from late July 2026 through to January 2027.
Whether you’re looking for a block booking or ongoing regular night shifts, the clinic is happy to tailor a roster around your availability.
This is an excellent opportunity to work in a busy, purpose-built hospital with an experienced nursing team, advanced surgical support and a diverse emergency caseload.
About the Opportunity
You’ll be joining a large multidisciplinary hospital providing emergency, medicine, surgery and equine services. With a strong team culture and excellent support systems in place, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on delivering exceptional patient care while working alongside experienced clinicians and nurses.

The Role
Available shift options include:
- 9:00pm – 9:00am
- Midnight – 8:00am
The clinic is flexible and welcomes:
- Block bookings
- Ongoing weekly shifts
- Casual locum arrangements
Your duties will include:
- Emergency consultations
- Medical case management
- Emergency soft tissue surgery
- Hospital patient care
- Diagnostic workups
- Client communication
The busiest consultation period is generally between 5:00pm and 9:00pm, with overnight caseloads settling later in the evening.
From midnight onwards, you’ll work as the overnight veterinarian, supported by an experienced team of emergency nurses, with senior surgical assistance available if required.
About You
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- A minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience
- Previous emergency experience
- Confidence managing emergency medical cases
- Ability to perform emergency soft tissue surgery, including exploratory laparotomies and GDVs
- Confidence working independently overnight
- Eligibility for veterinary registration in Western Australia
Veterinarians with strong GP experience and emergency exposure are also encouraged to enquire.
