Experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon – Visa Sponsorship Available – North East England – £60,000+

An established, long-standing independent mixed practice in the North East is looking to welcome an experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to their friendly, close-knit team. If you still love the variety of mixed work and want to feel genuinely valued day-to-day, this could be a brilliant next step.

The practice

This is a people-first team with excellent retention—created around a supportive culture where experienced vets can do their best work without ego. You’ll be part of a wider independent network of multiple practices across the region, while still working within a warm, “family feel” local setup.

The role

  • Genuinely varied mixed caseload
    • ~80% small animal
    • ~15% equine
    • ~5% farm
  • Mix of consults, surgery, ambulatory work, and everything in between
  • 10-minute consult model, well supported by a strong nursing team
  • Continuity-focused client base who value personal service
  • Work alongside an experienced, approachable team (proper teamwork, not lip service)

What they’re looking for

  • Veterinary Surgeon with 6+ years’ experience
  • Someone who enjoys mixed practice and the variety it brings
  • Confident, steady clinician and a genuine team player
  • Strong communication and a positive attitude
  • Full driving licence and able to drive a manual vehicle
  • Someone professional—but who doesn’t take themselves too seriously

Package & benefits

  • Salary from £60,000+ (DOE)
  • After passing 6-month probationmonthly profit sharebirthday leave, and discounted pet care
  • 6+ weeks annual leave to start, increasing with service (up to 8 weeks)
  • Salary review at 12 months + annual reviews thereafter
  • BUPA healthcare
  • Workplace pension
  • Generous CPD allowance + ongoing training
  • RCVS & VDS fees paid
  • Full sick pay after 1 year’s service

Rota

  • Full-time or part-time considered (minimum 3 days/week)
  • 1 Saturday morning in 3
  • Shared bank holiday cover
  • Small contribution to 1-in-6 weekend on-call rota
  • For every on-call weekend worked, you’ll get the Friday or Monday off (long weekend back)
  • You’ll never be on-call alone—weekend cover shared within a supportive group of three vets

Location

Based in the North East (near Newcastle)—great access to coastline, countryside and national parks, plus all the perks of a vibrant city nearby and a strong cost of living.
