Veterinarian Opportunity – North-Eastern Victoria

A privately owned small-animal practice in north-eastern Victoria is seeking a full-time Veterinarian to join its established and supportive team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinarian looking for predictable weekday hours, no weekends and no after-hours, while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of regional Victoria.

Sponsorship Available for Overseas Veterinarians

Qualified overseas veterinarians who hold the appropriate Australian veterinary registration, or who are eligible to obtain registration to practise in Australia, are strongly encouraged to enquire.

The practice is open to considering visa sponsorship for an experienced overseas veterinarian who meets the necessary registration requirements.

This could be an excellent opportunity for an international veterinarian looking to establish a long-term career in Australia, particularly for someone who values a supportive clinical environment, consistent working hours and a more relaxed regional lifestyle.

About the Role

The successful veterinarian will work within a 100% small-animal practice, managing a varied caseload across general medicine, surgery and preventative healthcare.

The role offers:

  • $130,000–$150,000 + superannuation, depending on experience
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
  • No weekends
  • No after-hours or on-call requirements
  • Full-time employment
  • Independently owned practice
  • Supportive and experienced veterinary and nursing team
  • Opportunity to develop clinical skills across a varied caseload

About the Clinic

The practice provides comprehensive small-animal veterinary care, including:

  • General medical consultations
  • Dentistry
  • Diagnostic services
  • Soft tissue and other surgical procedures
  • Ultrasound
  • Endoscopy
  • Digital radiology
  • In-house laboratory
  • Dedicated surgical facilities

The extensive in-house facilities allow the team to manage a broad range of cases without relying heavily on external referral.

The successful veterinarian will work alongside an established team, including a senior veterinarian with more than 30 years of industry experience, as well as experienced veterinary nurses with particular interests in surgery, orthopaedics, neonatal care and senior pet medicine.

This creates an excellent environment for knowledge sharing, clinical support and ongoing professional development.

About the Location

The practice is located in Benalla, a regional Victorian city approximately two hours north-east of Melbourne by car or train.

Benalla offers an attractive regional lifestyle with a strong local community, while still providing convenient access to Melbourne.

The area is well known for its arts and cultural scene, cafés and dining, as well as beautiful outdoor spaces including the lake, gardens, walking tracks and surrounding countryside.

For an overseas veterinarian looking to experience life in Australia, Benalla offers the opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life while still having access to the facilities and amenities of a regional centre.

About You

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A qualified veterinarian with appropriate Australian registration, or eligible to obtain registration
  • Experienced in small-animal general practice
  • Passionate about providing high-quality patient and client care
  • Confident with general medicine and surgery
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Professional, reliable and compassionate
  • Interested in developing a long-term career within a supportive practice

Overseas veterinarians who are eligible for Australian registration and require visa sponsorship are encouraged to enquire.
