Are you a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) looking for a varied role with a supportive team, excellent clinical exposure and a genuine focus on work-life balance?
We’re recruiting for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a friendly and experienced small animal team based primarily at a well-equipped practice in Abergavenny, South Wales, with some cover required across nearby branches.
With a unique 6-week rolling rota that includes a full week off every six weeks, this is an excellent opportunity for an RVN looking for a role that offers both professional variety and plenty of time away from work.
The Role
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you’ll play an important role in delivering high standards of patient and client care while making full use of your nursing skills.
The role offers exposure to a varied caseload, including:
- Routine surgical procedures and theatre work
- Diagnostic imaging
- Nurse consultations
- Inpatient and hospitalised patient care
- Kennel nursing
- Supporting veterinary surgeons with a varied small animal caseload
- Providing high standards of clinical and client care
Confidence in routine surgery, diagnostic imaging and nurse consultations would be desirable. Sole charge experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training and support will be provided.
Full-Time Rota
The rota consists of a 6 week rolling rota – every 6th week is OFF.
The out-of-hours service is outsourced, while the practice retains its own inpatients from Monday 9am through to Saturday 6pm, allowing for continuity of patient care.
About the Team
You’ll be joining an established veterinary team made up of 12 RVNs, 3 SVNs and 3 ACAs, working across four well-equipped, RCVS-accredited practices.
The wider veterinary team includes 13 Veterinary Surgeons, including certificate holders in Medicine and Surgery, providing plenty of opportunity to work alongside experienced clinicians and develop your own skills.
The main Abergavenny site provides 24-hour nursing care for inpatients, offering excellent continuity of care and a varied nursing caseload.

About You
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and is committed to providing excellent patient care.
You’ll ideally have:
- RCVS registration as a Veterinary Nurse
- Experience within a small animal practice
- A confident and proactive approach to nursing
- Good communication and client care skills
- An interest in developing your clinical skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Sole charge experience is beneficial but not essential – full support and training are available.
