Area Veterinary Surgeon – Essex
Permanent | Full-time | Essex
Ready to take your veterinary career to the next level?
Are you an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking for something a little more varied than the traditional practice role?
This could be the opportunity for you.
My client in Essex is looking for an ambitious, confident and clinically strong MRCVS to step into an Area Veterinary Surgeon position, supporting a cluster of practices.Â
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being part of a clinical team but is also ready to have a wider influence, supporting colleagues, driving clinical standards and helping shape the delivery of exceptional veterinary care across multiple sites.
What makes this role different?
You’ll enjoy a genuinely varied role, combining hands-on clinical work with leadership, mentorship and clinical oversight.
You’ll become a key point of support for Veterinary Surgeons and RVNs across your area, helping teams develop their skills, sharing knowledge and encouraging a culture of clinical excellence.
You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Provide high-quality clinical care through consultations and surgery.
- Support and mentor Veterinary Surgeons and nursing teams across the area.
- Help drive consistently high standards of clinical care and governance.
- Share your knowledge, experience and clinical expertise with colleagues.
- Support CPD, training and professional development.
- Encourage the adoption of best practice across multiple teams.
- Work collaboratively with leadership to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Help shape the future of veterinary care across the area.
It’s a role where no two days need to look the same and where your experience can have an impact well beyond the consulting room.
About you
You’ll be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon (MRCVS) with solid clinical experience and a genuine passion for high standards of patient and client care.
You’ll ideally be someone who:
- Is confident working independently and making clinical decisions.
- Enjoys supporting and developing other Veterinary Surgeons.
- Is approachable, organised and a natural communicator.
- Has a genuine interest in clinical leadership and governance.
- Enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others grow.
- Can build strong relationships across different teams and locations.
- Still enjoys getting stuck into clinical work yourself!
You don’t need to have held an Area or leadership position previously. If you’re already acting as an informal leader within your team and feel ready to take that next step, we’d love to hear from you.
What’s in it for you?
Because your career should be about much more than a rota and a job title.
The opportunity
This isn't simply a role where you'll be asked to turn up, work your consults and go home.
It's an opportunity to influence, develop and lead while continuing to enjoy the clinical work you love.
If you’re an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is ready to broaden your influence, support others and take the next step in your career, this could be the move you’ve been waiting for.
