Night Veterinary Surgeon – Part-Time | Brighton

GVC are assisting a well-established veterinary hospital in Brighton who are looking for an experienced Night Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and supportive emergency and hospital team.

If you’re an experienced Vet who enjoys emergency and critical care but wants a rota that genuinely gives you plenty of time away from work, this could be a fantastic opportunity.

You’ll join a purpose-built, RCVS-accredited veterinary hospital with an experienced day team, excellent facilities and a highly supportive night nursing team. The role offers plenty of variety, responsibility and clinical exposure, while allowing you to enjoy a 4 nights on, 20 nights off rota.

The role

• Part-time: 4 nights on, 20 nights off
• Hours: 7pm – 9am
• Salary: £32,500 – £35,850 FTE equivalent, based on 16.38 hours per week
• Sole charge overnight, with a comprehensive handover from the day team
• Working alongside an experienced Night RVN and Animal Nursing Assistant
• Managing hospitalised medical and emergency cases
• Exposure to a varied caseload, including exotic inpatients
• Fully supported and well-resourced day team
• Additional shifts available to cover holidays if desired

The hospital

You’ll be joining a large central hospital with:

• 8 consulting rooms
• Dedicated dog, cat, exotic and isolation wards
• 3 theatres
• CT and advanced imaging
• Dedicated dental suite
• Full in-house laboratory and dedicated lab technician
• Multiple certificate holders across the team
• Referral expertise in orthopaedics, ophthalmology, advanced imaging and exotics

There is also a strong emphasis on learning and development, with dedicated in-house and external CPD and plenty of opportunities to develop your clinical interests.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced, approachable and confident Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and has a genuine interest in emergency and critical care.

You’ll need to be comfortable working sole charge overnight, making clinical decisions independently and managing inpatients, while knowing that you have an experienced nursing team alongside you.
