Veterinary Surgeon
 Luxury Independent Practice

Tunbridge Wells, Kent | £50,000–£75,000 DOE | Full-Time | Opening January 2027

A new standard of veterinary care. A new opportunity for you. 🐾

Are you a Veterinary Surgeon looking for something a little different? Want to join a beautifully designed, luxury independent practice where exceptional clinical care, a supportive team culture and an outstanding client experience go hand in hand?

GVC are assisting a luxury independent veterinary practice opening in Tunbridge Wells in January 2027, and we’re looking for two Veterinary Surgeons to join the team from the outset.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a forward-thinking practice that’s reimagining the veterinary experience, combining modern clinic design, purpose-built technology and high-quality clinical care to create a better experience for pets, their owners and the veterinary professionals caring for them.

We’re recruiting for two positions, with opportunities for both experienced and more senior vets to make their mark in a brand-new clinic.

The Opportunities

We’re looking for two Veterinary Surgeons with different levels of experience:

  • Senior Veterinary Surgeon – 5+ years’ experience: An opportunity for an experienced clinician to bring their knowledge, confidence and clinical judgement to a new practice, helping shape its clinical standards and team culture.

  • Veterinary Surgeon – 3+ years’ experience: An excellent opportunity for an established first-opinion vet looking to develop their skills within a modern, supportive and progressive environment.

Both positions offer the chance to play a key role in building a positive clinical culture from day one, delivering excellent patient care and helping shape the future of the practice.

The Role

As a Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll deliver high-quality first-opinion care across consultations, routine surgery and case management, working collaboratively with your colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for patients and clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering excellent clinical care across consultations, surgery and ongoing case management.

  • Communicating clearly and compassionately with clients, explaining treatment options, diagnostic results and associated costs.

  • Building strong client relationships and contributing to an outstanding, personalised client experience.

  • Working closely with the veterinary and nursing teams to support collaborative case discussions and consistent clinical standards.

  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and working in line with RCVS guidance and professional requirements.

  • Participating in clinical audits, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

  • Taking ownership of your continuing professional development and supporting the development of colleagues where appropriate.

  • Contributing ideas and feedback to help shape the practice as it grows.

For the more senior position, there will be scope to bring additional clinical experience and help influence the development of the practice’s standards and ways of working.

About You

We’re looking for passionate, compassionate Veterinary Surgeons who want to deliver excellent medicine while being part of a genuinely collaborative team.

You’ll ideally have:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in first-opinion small animal practice for the standard Veterinary Surgeon position, or 5+ years for the senior position.

  • A recognised veterinary degree, such as BVSc or BVM&S, or equivalent.

  • MRCVS status, or eligibility to register with the RCVS.

  • Confidence in consultations, routine surgery and clinical decision-making.

  • Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.

  • A commitment to evidence-based medicine, patient safety and ongoing development.

  • A team-first attitude, with the ability to collaborate, share knowledge and support colleagues.

  • An interest in helping build something new and contributing ideas to the development of a growing practice.

Additional qualifications, advanced clinical skills, ECC experience or experience mentoring colleagues would be advantageous, but we’re particularly interested in finding the right people who share the practice’s vision.

Working Hours

  • Full-time position.

  • 5 days per week for the first 6 weeks during the initial opening period.

  • Moving to a 4-day working week after the first 6 weeks.

This structure offers additional support during the initial launch before moving to a four-day working pattern.

Salary & Benefits

  • £50,000–£75,000 salary, depending on experience and suitability for the position.

  • 200 hours of annual leave, plus bank holidays.

  • Your birthday off after one year’s service.

  • £1,500 CPD allowance and 5 days of dedicated study leave.

  • Pension scheme

  • Genuine opportunities for career progression as the business expands.

  • A supportive and inclusive culture where professional development is encouraged.

  • Free snacks and lunch in the clinic.

  • Regular team and company social events.

  • Monthly peer recognition schemes and celebrations of clinic milestones.

  • Potential eligibility for the company’s share options scheme following successful completion of probation, subject to the scheme rules and eligibility criteria.

Location

The practice will be based in Tunbridge Wells, with paid parking available nearby and public transport links within walking distance.

Why Join?

This is more than an opportunity to join another veterinary practice. It’s a chance to be part of a new approach to veterinary care, where clinical excellence, a positive team environment and a first-class client experience are equally important.

With two positions available, we’re keen to hear from Veterinary Surgeons at different stages of their careers who want to work in a modern, independent setting and help create something special from the very beginning.
