Veterinary Surgeon
Outstanding 24/7 Hospital
Up to £65,000

Looking for a role where you can develop your clinical skills, work alongside an experienced team and enjoy access to exceptional facilities? This could be the opportunity for you!

GVC are assisting an outstanding small animal hospital in South Yorkshire with the recruitment of an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its well-established team.

With a varied caseload, advanced diagnostic equipment and a supportive team of experienced clinicians, this is an excellent opportunity for a vet looking to take the next step in their career.

The Opportunity

  • Salary up to £65,000, depending on experience.

  • Full-time, part-time or weekend-only opportunities available.

  • Join a well-established 24/7 hospital and first-opinion practice.

  • Work alongside a team of 15 Veterinary Surgeons and 24 Registered Veterinary Nurses.

  • Access to advanced facilities, including a CT scanner, ultrasound and rigid and flexible endoscopes.

  • Exposure to a diverse caseload, including routine medicine and surgery, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, minimally invasive surgery and more.

  • Excellent opportunities for CPD, certificate study and ongoing professional development.

About the Practice

Established in 2002, this RCVS-recognised outstanding hospital has developed into a centre of excellence, providing comprehensive first-opinion, referral and emergency care to the local community.

You’ll be joining a highly skilled clinical team that includes an experienced out-of-hours service, allowing patients to receive continuity of care within the same hospital.

With a strong focus on clinical standards, teamwork and supporting colleagues to achieve their ambitions, this is a fantastic environment for a vet who enjoys learning and developing their skills.

About You

We’re looking for a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with at least four years’ experience who is confident managing a varied medical and surgical caseload.

You’ll ideally be:

  • A confident all-round GP vet, comfortable managing both medical and routine surgical cases.

  • Interested in working up cases thoroughly and delivering high standards of patient care.

  • A team player who enjoys collaborating with experienced colleagues.

  • Keen to continue developing clinically, whether through CPD, certificates or exposure to more complex cases.

This role would suit a vet who enjoys variety and wants to be part of a busy hospital environment. It is not a surgery-only position.

Working Hours

Flexibility is available, with full-time, part-time and weekend-only opportunities considered.

  • Full-time hours average approximately 41.5 hours per week.

  • Full-time vets typically join a 1:2 weekend rota.

  • Part-time vets can be considered for a 1:4 weekend rota.

  • Weekend-only opportunities are also available for vets looking to gain additional experience or work alongside an existing role.

Please note that participation in the weekend rota is essential.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Interested?

If you’re looking for a role where you can broaden your experience, work with excellent facilities and be part of a supportive clinical team, we’d love to hear from you!
